Rasputina Plays the Knitting Factory Brooklyn | New York City Concert Photography

Rasputina has been one of my favorite bands since I was fifteen years old. In the last decade, I’ve seen their lineup change numerous times, seen them play countless venues in a number of cities in a handful of states. Back in 2009, I photographed one of their shows at this very same venue, and my images ended up being used as the artwork for their live CD, The Pregnant Concert. In short, I’ve got a bit of history with this band. I love and support their work.

I kind of fell out of the music photography scene because, as cool as it made me feel to photograph and interview my heroes, I didn’t feel like that kind of work was doing much true good for the world. I heard about this show at the last minute and, occasionally I’m still up for shooting a band I feel passionately about, so I sent an email out into the abyss in the hope that Melora would be down. She was. Here are the images.

joseph daley - From 1 artist/photographer to another….brilliant work, really nice capture’s !

Jairo - Great photos! I’m from Brazil and I was at this concert. I was very lucky to visit NY exactly at the same month Rasputina would play. Hunter’s Kiss was lovely, the perfect end for one of the best concerts I’ve ever been. Tks, Jairo.
